2002

The ¡° China's Accession to the WTO: Beijing International Forum 2002¡± was sponsored and organized by the Beijing WTO Affairs Research and Consultation Center at the Greatwall Hotel, Beijing, from 17 th to 18 th November 2002. Shu Jingping, Vice President of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Li Daoyu, President of China International Public Relations Association were invited for the opening ceremony. Mr. Raymond Krommenacker, as the ambassador from the WTO, attended and addressed the forum with the Letter of Congratulations from the Director General of the WTO Mr. Supachai Panitchpakdi. Long Yongtu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Economy and Trade, Tong Zhiguang, President of China Society for World Trade Organization Studies, and Li Yining, economist from Peking University delivered speeches at the forum as honored guests. Vice Mayor of Beijing Zhang Mao presented remarks. Li Zhao, Director of Beijing Foreign Economic and Trade Commission chaired the opening ceremony. The successful forum has drawn much media attention both at home and abroad. Reporters from more than 50 media organs including Xinhua News Agency, China News Agency, Reuters, CCTV, BJTV, Economic Daily, International Business Daily, Beijing Daily, Sina.com were on site and carried on interviews and reports.

2003

Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Beijing Municipal Government together and cooperatively organized by Beijing WTO Affairs Center and the Publishing House of Magazine Economic & Trade Update, WTO & China: Beijing International Forum 2003 was opened at the Beijing Hotel from 10 th to 11 th October 2003. The theme of the forum was New Round Negotiation of the WTO and the Construction of a Well-being Society in China. Distinguished guests at the opening ceremony included Wu Yi, Vice Premier of State Council of P.R.C.; Cheng Xiwei, Vice-chairman of Standing Committee of the 9th National People's Congress; Supachai Panitchpakdi , Director General of the WTO; Wang Qishan, Acting Mayor of Beijing; Shi Guangsheng, President of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment; as well as officials and representatives from such international organizations as the WTO, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the World Bank. More than 100 regional, national and international media organs, including Xinhua News Agency, China News Agency, China Daily, Economic Daily, specially reported the event,

2004

On 16th November 2004, ¡°WTO & China: Beijing International Forum (2004)¡± was jointly organized by the Beijing WTO Affairs Center and the United Nations Trade Point Beijing Centre (TPBJ) at the Crowne Plaza Park View, Wuzhou, Beijing. The core theme of this forum was The Market Environment and Opportunities during the After-period of Transition of China's Entry into WTO. Wan Guoquan, vice president of the 9th session of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Jin Shengguan, Vice Director of the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress; Wang Qinhua, Director of the Bureau of Industry Injury Investigation of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China; Chen Zexing, Vice Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce graced the opening ceremony. Mr. Peter Froehler, Officer-in-charge of Division for Services Infrastructure for Development and Trade Efficiency, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; Mr. Bruno Masier, President of the World Trade Point Federation (WTPF); Mr. Raymond Krommenacker, Regional Coordinatior for the Asia and Pacific Economies of WTO; Mr. Patrick Powers, Director of China Operations for the US-China Business Council and other overseas guests delivered speeches at the forum.

2005

From 15th to 16th September 2005, ¡°WTO & China: Beijing International Forum (2005)¡± was unveiled at the Beijing News Plaza Hotel, under the sponsorship by the Beijing WTO Affairs Center and organization by the Publishing House of Magazine Economic & Trade Update. The forum was themed as Market Environment and Opportunities for China in the Last Stage of the Transitional Period after its Entry into the WTO. Distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were officials of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), WTO high-ranking officials, officials of the Ministry of Commerce, president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export Textiles, famous experts and scholars, presidents of multinational companies and so on so forth. Audience were spotted as textile merchants from Europe and America, representatives of textile and related industries associations and chambers both at home and abroad, entrepreneurs of textile industry and commercial counselors of foreign embassies. Mr. Raymond Krommenacker, from the WTO, presented a congratulatory letter from Mr. Pascal Lamy, WTO Director-General.
